    Description
    1991 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme Convertible
It started automotive life innocently enough in 1961. An upscale model within a new line of compacts designedin partto stem the rising tide of cheap, economical imports, while stealing sales away from Rambler. Not coincidentally, production of excessively large, mid-priced cars had been floundering since the late Fifties. But this humble start for Oldsmobile's Cutlass belied its eventual impact; the badge had longevity on its side, becoming the most popular car in America in the process. Its secret recipe for success was an open book for decades: Put simply, it was the biggest bang for the buck, in the right size, with a face that everybody loved.
Named after the familiar short curved blade sword used by swashbuckling sailors, this Cutlass in 1991 convertible form comes to us in good condition. Plenty of new parts recently put into it and recent mechanical work brings her up to snuff. Not your father's Oldsmobile, it's a 2 door Cutlass Supreme drop top.
    Exterior
Bathed in gentle and soft white, all panels are straight and true with some mismatching of the color from panel to panel. The rounded front of the car looks much like scowling eyebrows for the hood as they meet up with the rectangular headlights and twin black grilles tucked just above the neoprene body matching bumper. This bumper has a nice burgundy pinstripe within its design, and this carries to the body matching front fender flare. From here a neoprene white ground effect takes over and wraps the entire circumference of the car residing just above the rockers on either side, and through the rear bumper. Gaps are nicely minded, and with the white canvas top down there is plenty of wide vista viewing as the world goes by in the rear bench. On the back, large tail lighting resides on each corner and flanks a nice sized trunk. Paint overall is good, and some snappy 5 spoke fan blade alloy wheels are on all 4 corners.
    Interior
A swing of the doors and we see expertly molded plastic and vinyl in maroon, which is a nice contrast to the exterior white making up the tops of the door panels. On the bottom is maroon carpeting, and within are controls for power locks, windows and a side view mirror joystick and shiny door actuating handle. Inside, high-backed styled bucket seats in lightly worn maroon leather flanking a center console, also in maroon. A maroon leather rear bench is behind the buckets and is fairly easily accessible for the passengers that are destined to sit there. Floating B-pillars remain upright even when the top is folded and connect as a rudimentary roll bar of sorts. Upfront the original maroon dash with a LCD instrument inset in front of the wheel, and controls in the center in rectangular boxes is the mantra for this dash. We note a mere 79,311 original miles on this vehicle; however the title is showing 79,821. No cracks, runs, drips or errors for the dash top also in maroon. More maroon for the carpeting as it does a clean sweep through the interior.
    Drivetrain
Under the hood is unrestored although clean with some dust and dirt but no rust 3.1 liter V6 mill with new injectors and a recent oil change. It has multiport EFI and a TH440-T4 4-speed automatic transmission. A 3.33 final drive is on this model.
    Undercarriage
Underneath straight rust-free steel stamped floor pans and solid unibody construction abound. No rust, just patina and road dirt coated black steel and organized brake fluid lines along with the exhaust keep things very simple. Independent front and independent with coil sprung suspension in back provide the ride, and power disc brakes are all around. Our consignor notes that the entire brake system has been recently serviced.
    Drive-Ability
With plenty of recent service description documents, this car started quickly and off to the test track in a flash where it performed like a white streak! Solid braking which was bias free, good handling and a comfy leather interior with all working accessories save for the horn not tooting, the heater display not illuminating and the top being a tad slow going back up.
The consignor cared enough about this vehicle to make sure it was in tip top mechanical shape prior to its arrival and taking up residence in our Hallowed Halls. Now here for the taking, a true Oldsmobile and a new REO so you can pass it on to your grandson!
