Description
DescriptionThis is an amazing fireplace mantel
that was salvaged from a Philadelphia Victorian Home.
It is made of mahogany and is unpainted.
There is a crown molding along the top with 6 small carved corbels.
Below the crown molding is a triple arch with amazing carvings.
It is supported by 2 sets of double columns in the middle with carved feet and carved capitals.
The ends each have a cluster of 4 banded columns with carved capitals and go all the way to the floor.
This is a very old design that goes all the way back to gothic medieval cathedrals.
There is a beveled mirror behind the triple arch.
Measurements are 60.25 inches wide, 81 tall and 11.5 deep.
The opening is 41.5 inches wide by 47 tall.
We have the tile and register that filled the opening including the portrait tile.
It will be offered to the buyer at an additional cost, there are a few broken tiles but overall complete.
Overall, it is in good condition. There are misc. scratches and dings as it is antique. It could use a good cleaning.
The crown molding and corbels at the top came off and will need to be reset. There are a few paint splatters and some paint along the edges of the mounting boards. Please look at the pictures carefully.

Terms of Sale
I accept returns only if my description is inaccurate. For example, if I pull an item from a building that I believe to be original to the house and it is later discovered to be a reproduction, or if I enter an incorrect measurement, I will allow the buyer to return the item. I describe all my items as accurately as possible with descriptions and often pictures of any damage. I try to measure within 1/8 of an inch.
About Us
My salvage business was born of necessity in 1993 when I started restoring an old Victorian home that had seen better days. I needed doors, staircase parts, fireplace mantles and more, so I contacted the owners of a few local buildings that were scheduled for demolition. I found and purchased all of the things that I needed for my project and lots of extra treasures which I eventually resold. 17 years later this is still my full time job! I salvage whatever I can think can be reused as long as there is room in my warehouse. The warehouse is open for treasure hunting anytime by appointment. Just contact me to schedule a day and time! Thanks for visiting. Steve and Michelle
